25 Things

              1. I sometimes add things to my to-do list just so I can cross them off.

              2. I hate to give gift cards as gifts, but sometimes there is no other option.

              3. It drives me crazy when people do not know how to properly use me/I and they’re/there/their. I correct them in my head… and sometimes out loud.

              4. I can fall asleep almost anywhere, but when I am going to bed I want it to be completely dark.

              5. I even went as far as covering up the lights on serge protectors in my dorm room.

              6. One of my best friends was at the hospital the day I was born. I was in her wedding on my 21st birthday and there is a possibility Baby M will be born on her daughter’s birthday.

              7. I worked at a tanning salon in college and was flashed by some freak my first day on the job…. The cops wanted to know if he had any distinguishing characteristics.

              8. As a result of this job, I looked like a brown kangaroo freak.

              9. I have formed a best friendship with someone over shoes. Pink suede loafers to be exact.

              10. I can spend hours out in the sun working on my tan.

              11. Because of 7, 8, and 10 I already use anti wrinkle cream.

              12. I wanted to come home from college every day my freshman year.... my parents told me they would not pick me up from the airport. I stayed and ended up loving it.

              13. I accidentally drank my friend’s husband’s contacts. There is a good explanation for this – bachelorette party.

              14. I did some things in college that I could have been kicked out of school for.

              15. I have always wanted twin boys. Maybe next time… this time, there is only 1.

              16. I am deathly allergic to shellfish and once thought I was going to die in Chuy’s. (they accidentally served me shrimp tacos)

              17. I met my other best friend on the first day of college. We ended up being college roomies, lived together after college and worked together. Plus, I introduced her to her now husband and she did the same for me.

              18. If I could only choose 2 items of makeup for the rest of my life, I would choose mascara and lipgloss. And concealer. So, make that 3 items.

              19. When the baby is born, I do not want pictures taken unless I have on mascara, lip gloss and concealer.

              20. I am obsessed with my hair and will purchase almost product that promises to give me sleek, shiny and luxurious locks.

              21. The year after I got married I cut off a total of 15 inches from my hair. I donated it to Locks of Love, but I am ready for it to be long again.

              22. I once had a hard core addiction to Diet Coke, but then I gave it up because it gave me awful heart burn. I was clean and sober for about 3 years. I am back on the wagon and I love it.

              23. I decide whether or not I like a celebrity by their fun factor. Would they be fun to share a pitcher of margaritas with? The leaders of this list are Jen Aniston, Heidi Klum, Neil Patrick Harris and Justin Timberlake.

              24. I think I could go all winter without ever turning on the heat in our house.

              25. I cannot tell you the dates things occurred, but I can always tell you what I was wearing.

I tag anyone that wants to divulge 25 things.

When people show you who they are, believe them.
              —Maya Angelou

Wise words from a very wise woman.
Makes sense to me. Life is easier when you can learn from the actions of others. And that is all I can say on this subject.

              Hum...

Did anyone else watch the Duggar Wedding episode the other night? This is the only episode of the show I have seen…. And I think it will be my last. Whether you watched it or not, this family is uber conservative and has some very interesting views on things.

It is just like Lego’s. I think that was my favorite line of the entire episode. This is how the dad was explaining sex to his son. His 20 year old son. Hum….

How about when the soon to be Mrs. Duggar’s dad was talking to the camera explaining how he had been the authority figure over his daughter and now her husband was going to be the authority figure over her. Hum…..

Or how about having your first kiss televised on national TV? Hum…

I even noticed one of the commercial breaks featured an ad for Plan B contraceptive. Ironic.

It will be interesting to see how many more Duggar’s these people create, since they are going to follow in the footsteps of his parents.

              In my next life ...

... I want to come back as this guy.

Neither one of these pictures were staged; he just thinks he can sleep wherever he wants.

Ignore the awful couch... we are working on replacing it... The sooner the better.

              Niche Niche

We have these 2 art niche's in the house that are still empty... I am very picky when it comes to what I place there, which is why they are still empty.

I can tell you what I do not want: pictures with people in them / family pictures, generic art, large candle holders/metal wall hangings that hold votives, metal leaf designs, silk flowers, etc.

I found a print that I think would look wonderful in one niche, now I just need to figure out the second. I think the other one needs some depth and dimension. This picture does not do a good job, but the other one is pretty tall (about 6') and about 12" deep. Ideas?

The second this sweater goes on sale, it will be mine.
I think that it looks an awful lot like J Crew, but at only $40 it is much more wallet friendly.

(I am not going to buy one more piece of maternity clothing!)

And best wishes to Baby J and the MMM family!

              Shoes!

Why are Banana Republic mark downs not the same at every store or online? Sunday afternoon I was at one location and found a pair of shoes marked down from $130 to $27. They did not have my size (and would not call another store) so I stopped by store #2 on my way home. Success! But, this pair was only marked down $47. I told them that they were marked down even lower at a different location and asked if they could call to verify and give me the lower price. The manager told me that they generally do not do things like that, but would make an exception.

I ended up getting the shoes for around $20, since all women’s shoes were an additional 30% off. (mine are black)

Moral of story – cross your fingers that your local Banana is nice and does the good mark downs... And a Banana salesperson once told me that they get their leather from the same place Coach gets their leather. Interesting.

(For my Dallas people – West Village seems to generally have lower prices than any other location…North Park is where I ended up buying them)

              Strike 3.

"And to think that you are not due until March.... you are going to have to be carted around in a wheel barrow."

Ladies and Gents -- that would qualify as strike 3.

This will be my last baby/pregnancy post for a while. I promise. It gets old -- yes, I know.

              Private Baby Blog

I am creating a private blog for baby updates and pictures. I want to be able to use real names and such without having to worry about those weirdos out there.

Let me know if you want an invite.... make sure to include your email.

3 strikes and you are out

There is a person at my office feels the need to act like she is waddling down the hallway when she passes me.

This is also the same person that told me that my dress looked like a tent.

              Strike one.
              Strike two.
I can't wait to see what she does for strike 3.

(Let me just say, I was on my way to the kitchen for my morning snack -- an orange and Caffeine Free Diet Coke. And my lunch will be a Lean Cuisine and a banana. We will not discuss what she eats.)

To be a fly on the wall...

Wow... this would have been an awesome lunch. Whether you like these guys or not, they have all done some pretty incredible things and I love the fact they all got together for something other than a funeral.

What do you think they talked about? Think they offered Bush condolences on his cat that just recently passed away?

              Updates

It has been a while since I last did a baby update, so here you go....

This picture was taken about 10 days ago... and yes, I am larger since then. I will be glad when the puffy face goes away.

Baby M should be the size of a butternut squash. (About 15 in long and 2.5 pounds)

I took my glucose test a couple of days before Christmas and I passed! The stuff you have to drink was not bad at all .... I downed it all in seconds.

We are going to register this weekend. I am thinking Babies r Us and maybe Target. The return policy at Target is awful, so I may cross that one off the list.

We ordered our glider a couple weeks ago - it is a gliding recliner! It is incredibly comfy, plus takes up less room than a chair + ottoman. The recliner handle is hidden between the cushions, so it looks really nice. This is just the floor sample - ours will be a yellow velvet.
The nursery is going to be painted in the coming weeks.

We sent in our forms and such for all of the child birthing prep classes. Just the thought of these classes freak me out. Normally, I am one of those people that wants to know everything, but I think that in this case what I don't know wont hurt me. But, since we could not pick and choose the classes at the hospital, we get them all. They start in the coming weeks.

We still do not know the sex of the baby and have not decided on first names. We already have the middle names decided on... but they will be kept secret until Baby M is here.

I am going to start a private blog for the baby... I will do a post when that is complete, if you are interested in an invite.

Pants are becoming less and less comfortable. I have always preferred dresses to pants, and this is still true. I just ordered 6 dresses from BabyCenter.com -- if you are pregnant, check it out. They are closing their online store, so everything is on clearance. I got designer dresses for about $20 / each. (I ordered my stuff last week... it looks like their inventory is way down now.)

I have not indulged in any pregnancy pampering, but I am thinking that right before my due date I will treat myself to a mani/pedi and full on wax session. Yes, I am that vain.

Other than the nightly heart burn, I am feeling great.

              Hair Help!

I need help and advice! In the past week, this very pregnant person has developed an oily scalp. Yuck. I hate it!

I need a shampoo / powder, etc. that will help this problem. Any suggestions or advice?

(The posts have been sporadic because we are out of town... will return to normally scheduled programming next week... and Happy New Year!)
