Steal of the century

I think that decorating a house is an ongoing process.... well, at least it is for me. I am constantly finding new little treasures or some great fabric that I want to incorporate somehow into our home. I have mentioned before how I am kind of bi-polar when it comes to decor - part of me wants all white, cream and neutrals and then the other half craves color - orange, turquoise and green! The fun part is finding the right balance that works for your home.

The other day, I had The Nate Show on while I was doing some things around the house. I am not sure what the majority of the episode was about, but at the very end he was talking about the various ways paint and fabric can transform a simple chair into many different looks. This is the first look that he talked about.

Look familiar? This little turquoise chair was one of my first little furniture projects last year. Glad to know that Nate and I have similar taste.

And then today, I hit up the Wisteria Warehouse Sale with a friend. Kristen has wonderful taste and somehow received an invite to this wonderful sale. (Side note - check out her fab home. Love love love)

We were walking around, checking out the great deals and then all of a sudden I saw what appeared to be another Missoni-esq frenzy. Women were are trying to get their hands on these wonderful, European spindle chairs. I quickly got into line and was able to snag 2 of these incredible chairs. Not sure why they were selling at such a huge discount, but I did not waste any time by asking any questions.

Your eyes are not playing tricks on you - that tag is correct. A $600 chair for $10.

And now comes the fun part ..... picking out a fabric for the cushions!

Romper Runway

You all know I love a good deal, especially when it comes to baby clothes and baby gear. I have tried consignment sales in the past, but always get frustrated with the quality of the merchandise and end up leaving empty handed. But not this weekend. Romper Runway is having their fall sale and I can hardly wait. If you are in Dallas, you have to hit up this sale - it is wonderful.

Hands down, it is the best consignment sale I have ever been to. I always leave with a bag full of smocked outfits for practically nothing.

This year I plan on checking out the baby gear. It is crazy how much new stuff has hit the market since we were shopping for stuff for Miss A. I really want a Mama Roo, so cross your fingers that I get lucky.

If you want a sneak peak of some of the goods that will be available at the sale, like Romper Runway on Facebook. From what I could see, they had everything from Bugaboos to Crew Cuts. Not to mention the racks and racks of adorable smocked clothing. The prices on these things are insane - such crazy discounts you will want to buy everything.

New moms and grandmothers can shop early, plus bring a friend. I have done this before and it was awesome - you are able to get first dibs on all the stuff. Or, if you want to volunteer to work the sale you can also get early shopping privileges. Visit http://romperrunway.com/to sign up.

Also, from my own experience.... bring a tote bag or two. You will have so much stuff you will need somewhere to stash all of it while you are shopping.

Black Friday Purchase

**UPDATE - the seller sold this before I could get a chance to go look at it. But never fear, I found an equally as good piece at the Salvation Army. It is sitting in my garage, waiting for me to attack it with some sand paper and paint.***

Did you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving? We sure did. It seems like we did a tour of Texas in just a couple of days - hitting up almost all of the major cities - Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston....check!

And how about Black Friday? We have been wanting a new TV, so we decided that if we found a good deal on one we would get it for Christmas. Target had a great deal, so we went ahead and purchased it.... and the best part - we were able to do it online! Ordered it Friday evening and it showed up on our porch today. Fastest Target shipping I have ever experienced.

So, a new TV means a new stand. Our current TV is one of those massive monstrosities that stands on its own. A huge eyesore and I am so glad to be getting rid of it. (Live in Dallas and want a great deal on a TV - holla)

I did not want a traditional media stand, but something more along the lines of a dresser. We could always use some extra storage, plus this TV is going along a huge wall and the wall can handle a large piece of furniture. I scoured Craigslist for some cheap treasures and I found this:

What do you think? I am going to check it out on Friday - hopefully it looks good in person. I was planning on refinishing whatever I purchased, but the black would also work.

The only thing that makes me nervous about the purchase is that all weekend long I kept seeing previews for the Craigslist Killer movie. If you don't hear from me Friday afternoon, call the authorities.

Obsessed

I have a tendency to become obsessed about certain things.

Like, that one time in college when I was in luuuuv with my stat study partner. I would occasionally be in his neighborhood and have to drive by his house just to see if his truck was in the driveway. And I made sure to park by him in the business school parking lot. And I made sure that we got to class at the same time. But, that is not what is important here.

I am talking about jewelery now. Specifically, a I am on the hunt for a Wal Mart necklace. Yes, Wal Mart.

I spotted the necklace a couple of weeks ago and thought about buying it then, but decided to wait until it went on sale. (From $10 to $7. Yes, I am kicking myself) Well, I forgot to go back and look for the necklace until I saw it on another blog.

And now I am a woman on a mission. I have been to 5 Wal Mart's within 30 minutes of my house. I put out an APB on Twitter. And, now I am asking blogland.

If you are at Wal Mart and see this necklace - in ORANGE, can you pleeease grab it for me? I will pay you for it. Promise.
(It is only $7 and in the clearance section of the jewelery department. I have been able to find lime green and turquoise, but orange has become my holy grail.)

Cheap treasures

A couple weeks ago I decided to hit up the Sonic that is closer to my house, versus going to the nice Sonic. My happy hour diet cherry vanilla Diet Coke tastes the same at both locations, but I prefer the 'nice Sonic.' Well, that was until I noticed what was in the parking lot of the closer Sonic. This place is awesome. You never know what sort of treasure you will find - all just for 99 cents. I once saw a lady on Oprah that had published a 99 Cent Store cookbook. She talked about all of the gourmet food items the store had, plus her location sold wine. Well, my location does not sell wine (sad) but they do have all sorts of other great things, plus some pretty good produce.

Lean Cuisine. Cheap-o.
Spices galore. Cinnamon to cumin to crazy Mexican spices. They have it all.
Red, yellow and orange bell peppers. Have you seen the price of these suckers at Whole Foods? Sheesh.

Pool toys. When you have a puppy named Jake that likes to chew on anything and everything, you want to find cheap outside toys.

Positive is positive. No need to waste $8 a pop on these suckers. (side note: back when I was using these things, the most expensive one is the only one that said I was not pregnant)

These items made it into my basket today....

Mexican vanilla. Elefantitas Alegres - have any recipes for me?

Disposable place mats. We have a reusable one for when we eat out, but Miss A has started pulling it off the table, making a huge mess. Maybe she will not be able to pull these off. We shall see.
Flower pots and gardening gloves. I am on a major gardening kick this summer.

I have also found Fiber One blueberry muffin mix, Banana Boat sunscreen and lots of good cleaning products. I am addicted!

$15 off $15

When was the last time you shopped at The Limited? I cannot remember the last time (probably my sophomore year of college) I bought something there, but with this coupon I might take a look at what they have for spring.
This cardigan and t would be perfect for my uniform. (But not worn together... that would be rosette overload)

Shoe Day!

When Miss A is hanging out in her car seat she loves to pull on her socks and shoes, tossing them all over the backseat. I just laugh at her and and gather up all of her stuff at the end of the car ride. But, now that we are in the middle of an arctic blast in Dallas, I need to find some shoes that are more baby-proof. And, since she is almost walking I wanted something that was good for her feet. I ordered these for her today:
Aren't they cute? It is near impossible to find baby shoes that are not covered in flowers, hearts, butterflies, glitter or cartoon characters.....

And speaking of shoes, I already have these:

and she is going to be getting the baby version!

LBD and Sequins

Is there anything better than a great little black dress? Maybe a great pair of black sequin shoes!

I have 2 weddings to attend this December so I am beginning to plan my attire for them. I plan on wearing the same thing since they are two completely different crowds. (Best friend from college AND my grandpa... yes, my grandpa)

I am going to mix Kate Spade with Target. Who cares is the dress cost 1/10th of what the shoes cost? And, since I am still getting rid of the baby lbs, I have no idea what fits me so I had to order a variety of dresses.

Here are the shoes:

And here are the dresses..

Add a pair of black tights and some glitzy earrings and ta-da!
Which one is your favorite?

Heidi and Ann

Ah...... my girl crush and one of my favorite stores have teamed up!

I love Heidi Klum. She is number 1 on my list of celebs I would like to be friends with. She has super adorable kiddos, is funny, has a killer accent, a rockin' body and seems like a really fun person. This may seem like an unlikely pairing, but Ann Taylor has really stepped up their game lately. No longer are they the store for boring twinsets, but they are rocking some pretty great stuff. Mainly, I am in love with the shoes. I love all of them.

Do you have a girl crush?

I think I need to make a trip to Payless for these mommy and me shoes.

This Payless 15% coupon makes the deal even sweeter.

Fall Forecast

Old Navy has really stepped up their game lately. I am loving a lot of their fall stuff, plus the price tag is pretty nice.

The preppy and the sophisticate are my favorite of these three.

And they also have some cute baby stuff.

Baby Steals & Deals

The Preppy Baby posted this site the other day and I have become addicted to it!

Baby Earth is a great site, but what I love most is the GaGa Deal. Every hour a new item is posted and for every second the item remains unsold, the price drops. They only offer a certain number of items at this price, because at any point the product can sell out. It is exciting to see how low the prices can get.

The Maclaren Quest sale just ended and yesterday there was a Britax sale. Both items ended up selling for MUCH LESS than what we paid for them at Babies R Us.
