Josh Kelley Concert

Paging Dr. Stephens. Paging Dr. Stephens.
Last night I went to see Josh Kelley in concert and Izzie was a no show! Her fiancé definitely knows how to put on a good show, plus the venue was this really neat intimate place here in Dallas. (The Granada Theatre)
So, when you are in the middle of a hectic wedding week, the best medicine a doctor can prescribe is to have a glass of vino (or two or three) and go have fun at a concert. Plus, being a VIP was not too shabby!

The Perfect Gift

I just thought of the PERFECT wedding gift for Mr. Accountant. I cannot say what it is, since he reads this, but he is going to love it! It is: budget friendly, sentimental, and practical. I often pride myself of being a great gift giver, this is another prime example. Pictures and more details following the wedding.

Countdown to Maui
I am standing in the Target checkout aisle only to look up and see this:

It is destiny...Maui Melon Mint gum!
One week from today, the wedding madness will be over and Mr. Accountant and Mrs. Preppy will be basking in the sun on the Wailea Beach.

If the posts are scarce for the next 2 weeks, it is because the wedding is this Saturday then off to Maui!

Advice
To all of the already married people out there, or the people that have words of wisdom to share.....
Please let me know the 'one thing I wish I had known then" about your wedding. We are in chrunch time right now, and I have about ten zillion to do lists floating around and I just want to make sure everything gets done.
And yes, that is the Mr. and Mrs. Preppy bobble head.
Wedding Gifts

Does anyone have any suggestions for a wedding gift for the Mr. Preppy? I love the idea of the Maid of Honor taking my gift to him, then the Best Man bringing me mine. I know this is a little late in the game, since the wedding is October 27. But, I think that I will be able to do something.
A watch would be a perfect choice, but he already has one that he wears daily.

Jury Duty

October 24, 2007. In my mind, that is 3 days from the wedding. 3 days of the last minute rushing around….. Getting a mani/pedi. Finalizing all the counts for the caterer and bakery. Making sure everyone gets checking into their hotels.
YET, in the eyes of the Dallas County justice system, that is the day juror #356 needs to show up at the Frank R. Cowley court house in Dallas. Normally, I would not mind jury duty. I am one of those people that thinks this is something we should all do, part of your civic duty. BUT, that thinking gets thrown out the window 3 days before my wedding.

Luckily, Dallas County makes it easy to postpone this civic duty… all I had to do was provide written proof that I was going to be out of town.
One more reason I cannot wait to be sitting on the beach in Maui – it is helping me postpone my jury duty!
If you look closely at the back of the summons you will notice the various acceptable reasons for jury duty disqualification. I am thinking that I could have also used excuse #4.
(4) I am not of sound mind.
No bride is going to be of sound mind 3 days before the wedding – right?

Hakuna Matata

Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze
It means no worries for the rest of your days
It's our problem-free philosophy
Last night, this almost married gal was lucky enough to have a date night with her dad! We went to go see the Lion King Musical – it is wonderful! I have seen many musicals when they come to town and this one was one of the best. (Wicked is also wickedly great!) We had wonderful seats, so we were able to see all of the phenomenal costumes and animal props up-close and personal. If this show comes anywhere near you, go see it! We were both amazed with the talented kids in the show. Young Simba and Young Nala were each played by 10-year old children! Their grace, poise, dancing, and voice were spectacular. It is hard to believe that they are just 10 years old.
So, from now until the wedding (and then on out) my mantra is going to be Hakuna Matata. This worry free philosophy will be a great way to live my life.

We all need a lift...
... for our ear lobes, that is.
Yes, I have saggy ear lobes. Extremely unattractive, yes I know. I think it all started when I first got my ears pierced when I was younger – the piercer may have been drunk or blind OR drunk and blind because what I ended up with was 2 very low holes in my ears. So low that you can sometimes see the backs of earrings from the below the lobes. And although I try to stick with my diamond or pearl studs, I sometimes have the urge to wear hoops or even chandelier earrings, resulting in even more sagging.
So, to make matters worse last weekend my bracelet got caught on a hoop earring I was wearing and almost ripped my ear hole right out! Very painful. Very unattractive.

Lucky for me, there is a new product out there – Earlobe Disks. It is ‘the invisible support for stretched or torn earlobes.’ Has anyone tried these? Do they work?
