Wild Weather

Mother Nature is on a roll. Last night we had some fierce weather and spent the lots of time in our closet under the stairs and trying to get weather updates TV.

Miss A thought we were having lots of fun playtime in the closet... she was a trooper throughout the entire evening.

Call me crazy, but if we are having to seek shelter from the weather, then I want the pets there with us. I was running around the house like a crazy lady searching for Steve, all the while the storm sirens are sounding. We finally found him (hiding under A's crib) and then we headed to the closet. He immediately darted to the back corner and was fine. Jake (the pup) was a nervous wreck. He did not want to come into the closet and he was not a fan of the confined quarters. So, here we all are. I was on the phone with my dad because the satellite had gone out and Mr. was trying to look up weather stuff on his phone.

At some point we were in the closet and heard the TV come back on. The satellite was working again, so we immediately tried to turn on our local ABC channel to see what the current conditions were like. Yet, we could not find out if we were about to be swept away because they were still airing Dancing With the Stars.

Yes, WFAA Ch 8, was running a season finale of a dancing competition show versus important weather information. Explain that one to me.

The chief meteorologist tweeted later on in the night, making it seem as if this was a higher up network decision.

Either way, it seems foolish and irresponsible.

Goodbye Oprah

I have always loved Oprah.

She came on at 4 and everyday after school I would watch her while I was working on my homework or having an after school snack. Granted, not all of her episodes were right up my alley, but I still watched them. I now tivo each and every episode and usually watch them at night as I am falling asleep.

Her show has been on the air for 25 years. Granted, I have probably not been watching her all of those 25 years, but she has been on the air most of my life. And she will be missed.

The Mr. thinks I am silly for saying that I am going to miss her, since she now has her OWN network..... But, it will not be the same. Yes, I am an emotional pregnant sap that loves Oprah.

My Favorite Things

Somehow life always gets in the way of blogging.... but, here I am!

I have been busy with lots of fun little projects.... a couple Goodwill before and after projects, some fun Halloween stuff and some yummy dinners.

But, since my camera is in the other room and I am watching How I Met Your Mother from last night all you get is this wonderful new commercial.

First, let me say that this has to be the best movie ever made. I have loved it for as long as I can remember and I can't wait until I can show it to Miss A. Also - have you seen that the entire cast is going to be on an upcoming Oprah episode?!?! I cannot wait.

Isn't it great? And, I love that black and white dress.

TV TV TV

We have been watching the Olympics nonstop here in our house. And with all that TV viewing comes a lot of commercial watching. Normally, we Tivo everything and skip the commercials, but since I do not want to stay up until 1am watching skeleton or curling, we watch in real time.

NBC is pushing the Jim and Pam baby big time. And I can hardly wait. Will they have a boy or girl? What will the name be? How crazy will Michael act? There is even a Halpert Baby Blog.

And they are also pushing the new TV show - Parenthood. I am excited about this show... the previews make it look pretty good. And I am a sucker for shows like this. The cast is full of pretty big names, so hopefully it can live up to all the hype.

I love the Olympics and I hate for them to end, but at least we have some good TV to look forward to.

The Flying Tomato

The red hair. The curls. The gold medals.

I have had an Olympic crush on Shaun White since we first learned about him many years ago. I know this is pretty cougar-ific of me, but I am secure enough to admit my crush.

In addition to his gravity defying tricks, he seems like a cool person to hang out with. He genuinely appreciates his fans and he is always has time to sign an autograph or two.

I love it when you see Olympic athletes get genuinely emotional when they win a medal. Last night he showed us all that winning gold medal #2 is just as exciting as gold medal #1.

Rewind the Tivo

There is something about the UPS Whiteboard commercials makes me stop dead in my tracks.

I love the music.

I want to see the new stuff he will draw.

He has good hair.

And I think he is pretty good looking.

These commercials have been around for a couple years now and I never get tired of them. Normally we fast forward through all commercials, but I always make sure to watch these.

• The song playing in the background is by The Postal Service - Such Great Heights. It is also on the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack, v1.


• The actor that is doing all of the drawing also developed the creative concept - he is the creative director for an advertising agency.


• He started out doing all of the drawings, but computer animation has now been added to some of the spots.

Are there any commercials that you make sure to watch?

Bill and Giuliana

In the world of Tivo I hardly ever watch anything on the night it originally airs. Yet, there is a short list of exceptions: Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl, Flipping Out...

I have now added 1 more to that list - Bill and Giuliana.

I am in love with these two. I feel like Giuliana would be soo much fun to hang out with .... a real girl's girl that also has a sense of humor. And Bill is also pretty funny. You can tell they are crazy about each other, but they also drive each other crazy sometimes.

They have homes in LA and Chicago. How fun would that be? Mr. and I were talking about it and I was saying that it would be fun to have a 'city house' and a 'suburb house.' We already have the second one... now we just need to get something like this:

The 'burbs are great for the schools and yard, but I think I am more of a city girl. Ah... the compromises of marriage.

Mad Men

Mr. and I really want to start watching Mad Men, but we have not seen the first two seasons.... We are currently tivo'ing season 3 with the hopes of watching at some point, but sitting down to catch up on seasons 1 & 2 don't seem too likely. Something about having a 6 month old cuts into tv time.

Here is my question... could we start watching with season 3 and know what is going on? I know a lot of blogland is crazy about the show, so maybe you all could give me some sites to help get caught up.

Do you think celebrities keep the pictures from their photo shoots? Specifically, Tori Spelling and family seem to do a lot of family photo shoots and they usually have really cute pictures.

I love watching Tori & Dean... they seem like they would be a lot of fun to hang out with.

I did some online digging and this is what I found:

I only found out later what she was talking about, from someone in her own family. I simply gave a phone number to her ex brother-in-law to contact proper people with questions that he had concerning something that was absolutely none of my business. I was asked to give this information to him. If I had to do it again, I would have declined and preferred not to get involved. But I think my minimal involvement did not justify Caroline's behavior towards me."I heard from New Jersey gossip floating around that Danielle gave Dina's ex-husband phone numbers to contact the authorities to report child abuse because she was alleging that Dina was abusing Lexi. However, the claims were dismissed as soon as they were brought up.That's why Caroline said that she wouldn't say what "it" was because Dina asked her too, because she didn't want to re-hatch something that Dina was no doubt mortified about and wanted to forget, even though it wasn't true.

Personally, I like Dina and all of her fake bubbie glory. Who knows what really happened..... All I know is that Season 2 is going to be drama, drama, drama!

Did anyone else watch the Duggar Wedding episode the other night? This is the only episode of the show I have seen…. And I think it will be my last. Whether you watched it or not, this family is uber conservative and has some very interesting views on things.

It is just like Lego’s. I think that was my favorite line of the entire episode. This is how the dad was explaining sex to his son. His 20 year old son. Hum….

How about when the soon to be Mrs. Duggar’s dad was talking to the camera explaining how he had been the authority figure over his daughter and now her husband was going to be the authority figure over her. Hum…..

Or how about having your first kiss televised on national TV? Hum…

I even noticed one of the commercial breaks featured an ad for Plan B contraceptive. Ironic.

It will be interesting to see how many more Duggar’s these people create, since they are going to follow in the footsteps of his parents.

Grey's Anatomy

Why do George and Izzie feel the need to bite the hand that feeds them?

Seriously.

Nobody had even heard of these two before Grey's Anatomy and now they want out. They should just suck it up and ride out their contract. Personally, I would be fine to see George go. I really liked him in the beginning, but now he just seems too whiny and is rather annoying to watch. And the Denny ghost story line.... I think I might be the only one that likes it.

Spotted

I love all things Gossip Girl... and Blair is my favorite! In this week's episode, so looked FABulous at her birthday party. Love the hair. Love the blouse. Love the makeup.

If you have an extra $1,990, you too can look like Blair. BUT, if you are wanting the top to look just like hers, then you have to make a trip to the tailor.

But my main question here is how she got her make-up to look that way. It is absolutely perfect. I am going to be on a quest to perfect that look.... tips or suggestions?

Food Porn

I can't wait until Giada is back on TV... plus, she will have a brand new show! Giada at Home is supposed to begin October 18 at 1pm. Looks like I will be TiVo'ing that one.

Scandalous!

...and I love it! Although, I might have different feelings if I was actually the parent of a teen wanting to watch the show. There is way too much sex for a show about high school. That being said, I still TiVo every episode and I am addicted.
