Martha Stewart vs. Mrs.Preppy

A Martha Stewart employee recently tipped off Gawker with a sneak peak inside their new offices. The domestic goddess would HATE my office.

I need stuff for my walls... the drab grey gets old after about 5 minutes.

She strikes again

We pass each other in the lobby and she stops and points at my stomach and starts laughing like a hyena. "Oh my gosh, you are huge!"

Someone else came to my defense and said that it was not too nice to make fun of the pregnant woman. And I agree. Not nice at all. I just ignored her.

Strike 3.

"And to think that you are not due until March.... you are going to have to be carted around in a wheel barrow."

Ladies and Gents -- that would qualify as strike 3.

This will be my last baby/pregnancy post for a while. I promise. It gets old -- yes, I know.

3 strikes and you are out

There is a person at my office feels the need to act like she is waddling down the hallway when she passes me.

This is also the same person that told me that my dress looked like a tent.

Strike one.
Strike two.
I can't wait to see what she does for strike 3.

(Let me just say, I was on my way to the kitchen for my morning snack -- an orange and Caffeine Free Diet Coke. And my lunch will be a Lean Cuisine and a banana. We will not discuss what she eats.)

Fantasy Football

... is crazy! Mr. Account is in a couple leagues, I am even in one myself, but my work neighbor is insane about it.

All day long I hear his constant phone calls about the league / player trades / rules / playoffs / random stuff about all the players, etc.

And all of these conversation are held on speaker phone. I think I am going to go crazy.

Chicago sightings

Back from KBIS and I need a nap! While in Chicago, I had a couple celebrity sightings. Mainly athletes, but still celebrities in my book.

I had a lengthy elevator ride with King James.

As well as another elevator ride with various members of the Orlando Magic. And I said hello to Patrick Ewing. We must have been staying at the hotel all visiting NBA teams stay at.

And I almost bumped into Ty Pennington while at the show.

MIA

I leave tomorrow morning for the KBIS show in Chicago, therefore will be MIA until Monday. It is always a huge show for us, and it means countless hours on your feet... AND THEN attending cocktail parties and such. An extremely busy weekend, but at least I get to dress up for some great meals / events AND rest my tired feet here.

Also, I am going to see my friend Ashlynn and her cute new baby! Baby Lucy is adorable and less than 2 weeks old.

Hopefully this year, I will get the shoes right. Meaning, in the past I have worn everything from heels to flats, but still end up with aching feet. This year, I am going to be sporting these Mary Jane tennis shoes. They are going to look perfect with my black suit -- no???

Missed opportunity...

Had I known they were going to be in New Orleans the same time I was, I would have stalked them instead of getting my mani and pedi at the Ritz.

New Orleans

I just got back from a weekend in New Orleans. It was my first time to spend more than a couple of hours in The Crescent City.

My salad from dinner last night at La Petite Grocery -- Egg Salad!

Along the mighty Mississippi River

The remnants from the St. Pat's Day Parade --- they throw cabbage, carrots, and potatoes from the floats.

A beautiful courtyard

I love the black iron...

Left over Mari Gras beads!

There was an Amish choir singing in Jackson Square

Trader Joe's

Now I know about the glorious store you all talk about. I made my first trip to this wonderful place, in Birmingham, MI.

For less thatn $10 I got : 2 things of citrus body wash, 2 things of the matching lotion and 4 bars of tea tree soap.

Too bad I do not live closer, there was an entire selection of wine that I wanted to try!

Maybe if all of Dallas writes a request here, we can get a Trader Joe's in our city. Maybe, just maybe.

Bad Blogger

I think we all go through weeks where we are bad bloggers. Last week, that was me. 1 week without a single post. Sheesh!

So, this weekend I am headed to Chicago and Detroit for my sister-in-law's baby shower, then to the Motor City for work. One tropical paradise to another.

A quick google search on snow and this is what I got:

Chicago braces for more snow - 19 hours ago
Snow will continue to fall in Chicago Friday morning, bringing the total accumulation near 12 inches by early afternoon. A winter storm warning remains in ...Chicago Sun-Times - 316 related articles »Roundup: How metro Detroiters handled the snow - Detroit Free Press - 20 related articles »

I made it to Chicago with no delays AND my bag. So far, I am 1 for 3 on my flights....

To everyone having a Super Bowl party -- have fun! I am bummed that I have to watch it alone at my hotel in Detroit...

Woo Hoo!

For the past couple months, I have been on my way to a promotion. Meaning, I am doing everything that I used to do, plus all of the new stuff. I was fine with it, only because I knew it would not be forever. We wanted to make sure the appropriate people were lined up, allowing me to focus strictly on PR. Well, today is that day! I am officially on my way to becoming the Director of PR for the North American division of our company. I am over the moon! Could not be more excited -- I love working where I do, and this is just the beginning!

Maybe I should start dressing like Samantha Jones.

Maybe not. Samantha -- no. Charlotte -- yes.

NO means NO

WARNIG – I am about to ramble about a work issue that drives me insane. I am sure many of you are also agitated by this same thing.

The over CC’r. Specifically, the person that deems it necessary to respond to an email, with your superior copied. Was my answer not what you wanted to hear? Are you going to run to daddy since mommy gave you an answer you did not like? Come on. I would not be in a position to tell you NO, if I was not able to have to authority to tell you NO. If I think it is important enough to pass along, then I will. You do not need to make that decision for me. No, I am not trying to act all high and mighty; I am just doing my job. I don’t do your job – you don’t need to try to do mine.

Now I feel better…. I can’t be the only person that feels this way—right??

OMG You Guys!

That’s right --- I get to go channel my inner Elle Woods this weekend when I am in NYC. Lucky for me, the Broadway strike just ended and I can squeeze in this show while I am up there. I saw part of it on MTV, but it is going to be even better in person!
I am going up early tomorrow morning; I wish I was getting to go for a longer period of time, but I have meetings all day on Monday then head back to Big D late that night. I do get to see a an old friend from college and we are going to relive the ol’ college days.
