NO means NO

WARNIG – I am about to ramble about a work issue that drives me insane. I am sure many of you are also agitated by this same thing.

The over CC’r. Specifically, the person that deems it necessary to respond to an email, with your superior copied. Was my answer not what you wanted to hear? Are you going to run to daddy since mommy gave you an answer you did not like? Come on. I would not be in a position to tell you NO, if I was not able to have to authority to tell you NO. If I think it is important enough to pass along, then I will. You do not need to make that decision for me. No, I am not trying to act all high and mighty; I am just doing my job. I don’t do your job – you don’t need to try to do mine.

Now I feel better…. I can’t be the only person that feels this way—right??

hi, just found your blog. that post made me laugh out loud. i worked in advertising for 13 years and quit 2 years ago after my son was born and that post brought back many work memories. you said it well-enough of the multiple cc's!!! :)

oh - my favorite is when you reply to someone with information they may not want to hear... and then they forward that on (without you on the email) and then you receive it from someone else asking you for help!!! that drives me crazy!!!

SERIOUSLY. My other pet peeve is when someone CC's your boss on an email to you, and your boss then FORWARDS it to you, even though clearly YOU were the original recipient! Seriously? Gah.

I agree, I have been cc'd into fights between people. And the blind cc sucks too.

I'm with you. I've always felt that this is a very passive-aggressive tactic. Second only to the the BCC--a truly subversive manuever in my book.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one with these CC thoughts! (BCC is just as bad, sometime worse!)

This drives me crazy too. The other thing I hate is when there is a cc'd list, someone hits reply all and sends their comment meant for one person to all people.

OMG i soooo agree. a girl at my work does this all the time. im am like why do you need to CC my boss when I took care of the problem. i hate, i repeat hate, people who do this.

Ah, seriously! I used to have a client that cc'ed management on EVERYTHING. We started sending emails with notes like cc: Frank Sinatra, Jesus, Britney Spears. It was pretty funny.
