Thank You

Dear McDonald’s drive thru lady–
I see you on average a couple times a week.. Sometimes I am on my phone; sometimes I have Velcro rollers in my hair. Sometimes I might look like I am still asleep, but please know that I am thankful. Thankful that you take the extra 30 seconds to wipe down the Diet Coke that has spilled over from the top of the Styrofoam cup. This might not sound like a big deal, but once a Sonic worker did not wipe down the sides…. And I was wearing white pants…. And I put the large beverage between my legs….

And as much as I love drinking every last drop of that heavenly nectar, I am also thankful that you don’t overfill the cup. Have you ever tried to stick a straw into a too full cup? Disastrous.

I know my large diet coke is not that exciting of an order, but at 7:25am, it is the little things that make me smile.

Yours truly, Mrs Preppy

So, if you are ever at the McDonald’s on the corner of by my office and way too early, rest assured that there will not be any Diet Coke running down the side of your Styrofoam cup.

Chinese Gender Predictor

***I used the chart found on The Bump***

Since we did not find out the sex of Baby M, I was eager to see if this old chart was accurate.

And it was!

That was the only home gender test that I did, but since then I have tried the pencil/string/needle thing and I said we would have 2 girls. Hum.....

Anyone else have success with these crazy things?

Rapunzel, Rapunzel

Last year (around this time) I chopped my hair off for Locks of Love. I maintained that short do for a while, but now I am ready to have my looooong hair back. Yet, for some reason when I get my hair trimmed I always agree to “framing the face” and “adding body” or “take some of the weight off.” That is just hairdresser code for “I am going to keep cutting your hair because long and straight hair is boring.”
It may be boring, but I want my hair back.

Some may say that hair that long is a lot of work, but not for me. Wash and dry. That is it. Maybe I should double up on my prenatal vitamins.

Birthday Weekend

Did I tell you that I had a birthday over the weekend? Oh yes... I am now one year older and one year wiser.

Thinking back on it, it consisted of a lot of eating and drinking.

Saturday - dinner with friends.

Oh yeah... and I got some pretty fun gifts:

Le Creuset stock pot, rod iron pot holders for my herbs and a family membership to our neighborhood swim and tennis club!

Black is slimming

Good News - Swimsuit season is here!
Bad News - Swimsuit season is here.

I have no idea what kind of suit to get for this post baby body. Definitely NOT what I wore last year...

I was thinking more along the lines of this...

Has anyone had Land's End suits? How do they fit? They are on sale right now, but the sale ends at midnight so I have so make a quick decision.

I am going to get this one for Miss A. I love that it has snaps - should make for easier diaper changes this summer at the beach.

What's Cookin...

Last night I made tuna cakes (just like crab cakes, but with tuna) and they were delish! I have a killer allergy to shellfish, so this is a great alternative. Plus, the recipe healthy... it is from Cooking Light.

Ingredients (serves 4)
3 cans (6 ounces each) tuna in water, drained and flaked
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup fresh cilantro, coarsely chopped
1/3 cup plain dry breadcrumbs (I am going to make this 1/2 cup next time)
2 tablespoons light mayonnaise
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 jalapeno chile (ribs and seeds removed), finely chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup prepared salsa

Directions
1. In a large bowl, stir together tuna, egg, cilantro, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and jalapeno. Mix gently until ingredients just hold together.
2. Using a packed 1/3-cup measure of tuna mixture per patty, shape into 8 cakes.
3. In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium. Working in batches if necessary, cook cakes until golden brown and crisp on the outside, about 2 minutes per side. Serve hot, accompanied by salsa.

Fore!

May and June are busy months in our household.... Mr's birthday, Mother's Day, my birthday, and Father's Day.... all of those events that can make for some creative gift giving. Although he never has to get too creative, anything from here or here is always good with me.

This year we are going to break from the jewelery and give each other golf lessons! We are going to take lessons together...hopefully we will not kill each other. One of us is a tad bit competitive.

I am going to try to channel Catherine Zeta Jones when playing. I hear she is a pretty good golfer and she always looks great while playing....
