I had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Haiti a couple of years ago. It was a life changing experience that will forever be with me. As I watch the horrific stories coming from Haiti right now, my heart aches. My cold, dark heart melts.

Ground moved the mountain into my way tragedy!
Broken bodies
Broken hearts
Broken lives.
Haiti cries
And we cry with them.
God, our hearts are aching as we try to imagine what the daylight brought to our brothers and sisters in Haiti. Heal the young eyes that have seen far too much on this day. Heal the hearts of many who have lost friends, family and a way of life on this day. Be with those who are missing. And those who are dying outside of the grasp of loving hands to hold them. Loving voices to soothe them.
Move us over here from empathy to action. From sympathy to substance as we contemplate what can be done to help today, and many days. Into a forever changed future. Amen.

hey, i just found your blog... love it. i am in PR at N.C. State University. your blog may be my new obsession just because Target, Banana, and Jcrew are my favorite stores ever.
That is all beside the point. Haiti is really turned inside out right now. Our Church just purchased 2 buildings there to turn into hospitals... we haven't heard any word on them yet though. Today in class a teacher told us if you text Haiti to 90999 it will add $10 to your cell phone bill and send the $10 to American Red cross to help aid Haiti...

It is overwhelming to think about how those people are suffering. We have several patients from Haiti one of which was just here. She has a four week old baby. She told us her Dad is alive, but lost both legs in the earthquake.
I texted the $10 donation, but want to do more. I just don't want my money to go into the hands of the corrupt officials there. I think it would be better to donate it directly to one of these patients to pass on to their loved ones.
