Well, not crap... more like the back layer of glue from a sisel rug.
Back in early December, we had our cleaning ladies come as a Christmas gift from us, for us. We LOVE these ladies, but this time they put the kitchen rug back on the floor too soon and it glued itself to the tile.
My first clue to this little problem should have been that the rug was not slipping and sliding all over the place, like it normally does. But I did not pick up on that little tid bit. Instead, we went weeks with out kitchen rug basically glued to the floor. Lovely.
Any tips on how to get this crap/glue off the tile? I have tried Goo Gone and was unsuccessful.
***UPDATE*** The cleaning lady and her crew are going to come back out next week and attempt to remove the crud from the tile. If they can't get it up I will try some of your wonderful tips and suggestions! Thanks for the info.

Oh no! I don't know if it's a similar type of glue, but what about the solvents they use to dissolve wallpaper glue? Maybe that combined with some kind of scraper?
Or, when in doubt, go to Home Depot and explain to someone there what happened. Maybe the can give you a recommendation? I've always found them very helpful. Good luck!
They sell Goo Gone Extreme at our local Wal-Mart and Lowe's - it's usually near the paint section.
It's SUPER caustic so if you have laminate flooring it's a no no, but if you have tile it should work.
I used it in a bathtub that had crazy adhesive in it and it ate a tiny bit of the flooring because I let it soak too long.. but it does work!
Have you seen the shark steam floor cleaner? Maybe that would melt it off.
Yikes. Home Depot has got to have some sort of super industrial goo remover I would think.
have you tried leaving an old towel on top soaked in mineral spirits? I have also heard a lot of good things about soy gel for removing all kinds of things (http://www.amazon.com/SOY-Gel-Paint-Urethane-Remover-Quart/dp/B0002Z11MY) but you may have to get the tile sealed after using it.
Heat it with a hairdryer and then pour baby oil on it and rub it off......I've had a similar problem before and that worked for us. Good luck :)
no thoughts on how to clean up the glue besides a razor blade which could be harmful to your health and floor, so maybe stear away from it... wish i could help! did you try yahoo or google answers?
p.s. stop by my blog, i left you some love (likeacomfypairofjeans.blogspot.com)
