Cooking Christmas

This year, Santa was very nice to me. The majority of my gifts revolved around a cooking theme which is just fine with me.

This avocado pitter/slicer is a great gadget. I used it tonight for the first time and it made slicing the avocado a breeze. This will definitely be used a lot in our house.

I have yet to try out this Ebelskiver pan. What -- you have never heard on Ebelskiver pancakes? They are light and fluffy pancakes that are usually filled with jam. I also got the recipe book to go along with it. There is a wide variety of recipes -- from sweet to savory. I am getting hungry just thinking about them.

And today is New Year's Day... Happy 2010. Last night we celebrated NYE in a very responsible / parental kind of way. We had a family game night with some friends and were home in bed by 1. And as far as resolutions.... I am just going to aim to get rid of the baby weight. I think it is going to be the death of me.

These are awesome gifts! I always ask for cooking and/or organizing related gifts and my family thinks they're lame because they're too practical. Glad to know I'm not the only one who enjoys them! Happy New Year!!

I love my ebelskiver pan! They make the yummiest treats. So good filled with raspberry preserves. I'll have to try that avacado slicer - we eat guacamole all the time.

We have an Ebelskiver pan too! Solvang, a super cute Danish town about 3 hours north of LA, has the best Ebelskivers, that's where I first tried them. But I haven't actually used the pan yet. Let me know how it goes!

Happy New Year!

Great gifts! I have that ebelskiver pan and love it. One tip, heat the pan at a lower temp than advised on the included instructions or your ebelskivers will quickly burn. I also use a non-stick cooking spray on it instead of butter because the butter browns too fast.

I love making them with mini chocolate chips inside. They are melty and delicious. Wow, I'm hungry just thinking about them!

Where is the avocado thingy from? My husband eats them every night on his salad and doesn't think I slice them right!

I have the Ebelskiver pan and have never used it. It was a birthday gift in 2008 and I still haven't used it. I even bought an Ebelskiver cookbook to try to convince me to try it. It looks delicious. Not sure what I'm afraid of!
