The Great Debate

The thermostat debate.

In our house, we are polar opposites when it comes to temperature. I love for it to be cold. Love to sleep with the window open. And love for there to be a slight nip in the air. Love to sleep curled up under a pile of blankets. The Mr. could not be more opposite. Loves to have the heat on. Hates to sleep with the window open and hates to be cold in his own home.
When I watch the weather and they talk about an 'arctic blast' I become giddy with excitement. I get excited about sleeping with the window open and burrowing under the covers. Last winter when I was pregnant, we never turned our heat on. Never. Well, maybe once... the. entire. winter. Guests in our house would complain about the temperature, but I would always win... because I was pregnant. This year, I cannot use that excuse and people just get annoyed with me.

Most mornings when we wake up the temperature in the house is 59. And, I love it! So, who wins the temperature debate in your house?

***We do turn the heat on upstairs so we do not freeze Baby M. I am not that cold hearted. ***

My apartment is kept around 74 because I do not have to pay utilities and I love it. However my parents did not approve when I decided to mess with the thermostat in the house thinking 68 was too cold.

We're pretty much on the same page in my house! We can't sleep with windows open because there's noisy garbage trucks at all sorts of weird hours. When we're awake we like the temp around 68 degrees, and when we sleep, we let it go down to about 60.

Yay! I'm the same way. The heat never came on last winter for us either.

Our bedroom is on the second floor is has its own heating and cooling system. Hudson's room is on the first floor. So we keep the first floor heat on 68 or 69 and the second floor heat never comes on. This morning it was 58 degrees in there. Todd gets all upset about it, but even with the covers on and no heat on, I still find myself getting hot. So I think he just needs to wear more clothes to bed! :)

I always lose this debate. I like to be warm at all times. LC always says the same thing everytime I complain about being cold in the house. He says, "you can always put on more layers and take them off when you get hot. It's not like I can TAKE off my skin!!!". I love being in a warm, cozy house and under warm covers. But then again, I was the kid who shut off the vent in their room during the Summers....

oh girl, i could not live with you!! you sound like my hubs, he would never turn the heat off if i wasn't around! i am freezing at 70 degrees! if i woke up and it was 59 i think i would seriously die!!

You cannot be serious about it being 59 degrees! We keep our house at 65 degrees in the winter. If you have on socks, pants, and a long sleeved shirt you are ok but I cannot imagine 59! That is just too cold for me!

We have the heating debate as well. I like it warmer while I am up doing stuff, but a little cooler for sleeping. We try not to go past 73, which makes me hot and I prefer not to go past 70. If it is chilly get a snuggie.

And someday you'll have a real reason to need the heat off at night...hot flashes!! And the Mr. will still be complaining about being cold. It seems the older they get, the colder they get... Go figure!
