Recipe Blog

I am not sure how I first found Annie's Eats blog, but I am glad that I did! She posts some of the best recipes, as well as the pictures of the process / finished product. I have already made several of the items from there and they have all been wonderful! Next up for me will be the spicy shredded pork tacos.

If you want or need another blog to add to your daily read, make sure to check her out.

Cream - 12 Grey - 15

During lunch, I made a trip to check out the Lela Rose shoes and see which ones I would prefer. Grey wins! I decided that as nice as the cream is, all it would take is one splatter of water / mud / grass on the cream satin heels and they would be ruined. The grey will be much easier to keep clean.

Also, they are surprisingly comfortable. In the picture, the heel looks incredibly high, but they are the exact same as most of the ones I wear on a daily basis.

This pregnant lady is not going to let a pair of 3.5" heels get in her way! (I say that now.... hope I don't end up eating my words....)

Grey or Cream?

Decisions .... Decisions.

Should I go with the grey or the cream ?

I am leaning toward cream. Plus, they are Lela Rose for Payless... how cute (and cheap) are these?!?!

UPDATE - The more I think about it, I like the grey. Had this been a year ago, I would have ourchased both, but this is the "try to shop less Mrs. Preppy...."

Part 2.

Thank you all so much for your sweet words and kind thoughts and prayers. They meant and mean more to me than you will ever know.

That previous post had to disappear.... If I end up going private, I will let you all know.

You asked, I answered.

This was fun! Here are my responses to your questions.

How long were you married before you decided you were ready for a little one? Well, this little one surprised everyone – even us! We were married in October 07 and got pregnant in June 08.

You have $500 to spend at J. Crew. What would you get? These days, that would not go very far with them! I would buy a lot of their jewelry and shoes. I love their shoes! Those are the only things from there that I can fit into right now.

Where was your wedding dress from? My wedding gown is by Jasmine Coture. I got it at a boutique in Dallas. I am not sure what the style number is, but here is a full length picture of it.

Keeping with the wedding theme, how did your husband propose? My husband caught me completely off guard with the proposal. First of all, it was a Tuesday after work. Who gets engaged in the middle of the week – I do! He had emailed me in the middle of the day asking if I wanted to go to Gloria’s for margaritas that night. Of course I wanted to get some margaritas after work…. He meets me at my apartment, where I am busy cleaning my bathroom. (He is a neat freak and I am not so much) I have the radio up loud and I am rocking out in the bathroom when he calls me into the living room… Next thing I know, he is down on both knees and a diamond ring is coming out of his pocket. He says some really sweet things, and of course I say YES and immediately want to call my mom and dad. He does not want for me to call them right away, wants for us to enjoy this special moment together. I agree, but still want to call them! We had reservations at Gloria’s for later on that night, so I agree that we can call the parents after dinner. We show up at the restaurant, and as soon as we walk in we are greeted by both sets of our parents! He had made prior arrangements for them to be there when we got to dinner, which explained why he did not want me to call them. Also, Gloria’s was where we had our first date…. And the proposal took place about a week before Valentines Day. He did not want to do it on 2/14 because he knew I would be looking for it.

What are some of your favorite restaurants (both fancy and dives) in Dallas? Most of the favorites are close to downtown, since pre-marriage I lived down there. Manny’s (Mexican food), MoMo’s, Gloria’s, John’s CafĂ©, Cuba Libre, Fireside Pies, Legal Grounds (for breakfast), Fearings, Mi Cocina / Taco Diner, Jasper’s

What are some of your favorite places to eat? Is Mr. Accountant an adventurous eater, or does he prefer chains? See above. Mr. Accountant is a pretty adventurous eater. I love to cook, and he always eats and compliments what I have prepared. Prior to me entering the picture, he would eat the same thing for dinner – every night – only alternating the vegetables.

And did where did you go to school? I went to a small, liberal arts school in AR – Hendrix College. It is in Conway, AR – about 30 minutes north of Little Rock.

Does Mr. want a boy or girl? You know how you can tell, right? He jokingly says that he never wants girls, but I know that he is full of it. He would be the biggest softie and not be able to say no, which is why I think he says that. I know there are lots of old wives tails on how to figure out the gender…. Which one were you thinking of?

We hear so much about your husband. What is he like (besides dashing of course)? He is a very fun loving and caring man. We balance each other out perfectly – he is a numbers guy, I am the creative one. He loves to clean, I love to cook. We both love sports, but he is a die hard Chicago fan and I love all Dallas sports.

What one thing are you most worried about when it comes to having your first little one? Daycare. I am going to go back to work and you hear all of these horror stories about daycare. I really want to find someone to watch Baby M in their home.

What was your major in college? And, if you had to do it over again, would you study the same things? My major was marketing and I would still study marketing if I had to do it over! Some days I think it would be neat to be an architect, but I really love what I do.

Are you going to go private after the baby comes? I think I might create a private blog for non-stalker readers, and then keep this one pretty surface level. No exact names, but still plenty of pictures.

How did you get your job? I graduated from college in December and searched forever to find a job… It took me 8 looong months, but finally I was referred to the company by a friend who had done some freelance advertising work for them. I was very fortunate to get a job here – I have been here for over 3 years and still love what I do.

If you were stuck on an island and could only have one thing to eat what would it be? I love cereal, so if I could pick one type of food, that would be it. When I am feeling good, I go for Chex… but my favorite is Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

What are your work plans for after the baby?
After maternity leave, I plan on going back to work full time. I think that it is going to be a huge challenge, but I really enjoy my career and what I get from it.

What do you want to know?

I think it gives you more insight into the person behind the blog when there is a Q and A session.

Any takers? What do you want to know about me?

Ask away.

Blue the Wonder Dog

This past weekend my brother was in town to help my parents move and with him he brought along his 2 dogs - Blue and Lyra. Blue is the most adventurous dog I have ever seen. He goes cliff jumping with my brother, loves to swim and loves to climb trees. Yes, climb trees.

Product Junkie

I am a HUGE product junkie.... lip gloss, lotions, hair serums and shine stuff, make-up, and shampoo / conditioner. Plus, I am always tempted when a new product hits the market and tend to believe their marketing claims (silly me) and inevitably end up trying out the products. With shampoo / conditioner, I always end up going back to Pantene. Nothing works better.

That being said, I am a couple months post hair chop and I want it long again. At least long enough for a pony tail. When I saw the Pantene that promises to make your hair stronger while growing it out -- I had to try it. The Beautiful Lengths collection is great.... smells wonderful, leaves your hair soft and sleek, plus has a nice price tag.

Target vs. J Crew

I love J Crew, but these days the prices there are out of control. And this is where Target comes into play.

Exhibit A - J Crew, $$$$$.

Exhibit B - Target, $.

Now, if only I could decide which color to get.... I am thinking the black and brown will fade too much. The red is too much color. Too bad there is not a mustard color... I will probably end up with the grey.

We did it!

We did it! We signed all the paperwork last night for our very own.....
Half bath - I am not a wallpaper person, but this looks great in the small space, especially when combined with the ornate mirror.

Kitchen - I love the stone back splash and the granite counters.... the double ovens are going to be great this holiday season!

Formal dining room - I am not crazy about the red. What color is your formal dining room?

Moving day is not until mid-October, so once everything is unpacked and in place there will be many more pictures.

Baby Updates

Today we heard the heartbeat! It was an amazing experience.

Other random baby updates:

  • We are NOT going to find out the gender.

  • The nursery bedding is going to be made from my previous Pottery Barn duvet cover. I had it for only a couple months before we got all new stuff from the wedding. It is green with different size yellow, white, red, and turquoise stripes in it. My Grandma is a excellent seamstress and is going to make it all. All I need to do is find some coordinating fabric. (will post pics as soon as I have some)

  • I think the walls are going to be a butter yellow.

  • I want a dark crib -- not black, but definitely dark brown.

  • I do not a specific changing table. There are these things that you can buy to go on top of a long dresser that are perfect. Then, you are not stuck with a piece of furniture that will never be used again.

  • The bassinet that Baby M will sleep in for the first couple weeks / months is a family piece -- baby will be the 13th baby to use it.

  • I am still feeling great! Still no morning sickness and the exhaustion that I had at the beginning is practically gone.....

  • I HATE buying maternity clothes and wish that Banana Republic would sell them.

The Paper Anniversary

We have the big 1 year coming up at the end of October and according to tradition, we should give each other the gift of paper. And in my opinion, paper concert tickets to MICHAEL BUBLE are just the thing. I have seen him in concert before and he is wonderful!

I am really looking forward to him singing Everything. We took dance lessons in prep for the wedding and that was our first dance song.

Where are you??

Last night Mr. and I were supposed to meet for a quick bite to eat before we had our weekly class for Financial Peace University. We decided on Pot Belly at 6...

6:05 I start playing Brick Breaker on my phone to pass the time.

6:15 rolls around and I am sitting there texting him to see if he is lost. This place is 3 blocks from his office.

6:20 Mr. calls me and the convo goes like this:

"Where are you?"

"Sitting at Pot Belly. Where are you"

"Sitting at Pot Belly"

"The one around the corner from your office?"

"Opps. Nope... not that one"

"Enjoy your sandwich. See you at class."

Moral of the story -- clarify the exact location or you will end up eating your sandwich alone.

Sweden pictures

View of Lake Malaren, from the Stockholm City Hall. This is where is Nobel ceremony is held every year.

Once again, Lake Malaren.

Tower of the City Hall.

Absolute Ice Bar! (Just juice for me....)

Our hotel in Kvanum - Bjertorp Slott Castle. Our room looked out onto the fountain... beautiful!

Lacko Castle in Lidkoping. Normally we have dinner here, but they were closed the evening we were there.

Lake Vanern, outside Lacko Castle. The water here is so clean you can drink it... I had a sip. This is the largest lake in Sweden and the 3rd largest in Europe.

I have the same size hands as Bjorn Borg!
