Own up to it

Why do people hide behind the veil of “Anonymous” when posting rude and mean comments? Thanks to the joys of comment approval, none of these will see the light of day, but it just does not make sense.

If you have an opinion – stand by it. I have mine, you have yours. No biggie…. But, if you are going to say something rude about my husband or me, then take your comments elsewhere.

I posted anonymously (because that's what I always do) but I didn't post anything untoward. I simply guessed you voted for McCain and your husband voted for Obama - no commentary either way. But you elected not to publish it, which is your choice. But then why allow anonymous comments? Not all anonymous posters are rude or mean.

a friend of mine had a horrible incident with an anonymous poster. She had a bad experience somewhere and blogged about it and this "anonymous" poster ripped her a new one. It's just so frustrating when it's someone who either doesn't even know you so how can they judge you or if they do know you...just own up, like you said!

Gosh, I have never understood this! I mean there are some that leave nice, straight forward anonymous remarks, but so many that do hide behind a wall. Blogging is always interesting I guess!

:( I'm so sorry! I can't imagine what kind of nasty comment could have been left on that post! It was pretty ambiguous! :(

You tell it sister!! I am so tired of negative comments!! Blogging is something I like to do to escape from everyday stresses, God knows there are a lot of those lately! So why can't everyone just be cool?? Is it really that hard???

PS LOVE, love, love your blog:)

I agree! If people are going to leave a comment either bad or good they should post publicly. Why be ashamed of it.

Anonymous posters have caused problems on other blogs as well. I'm with you, if you have an opinion, be sure enough in that opinion to stand up for it. Can you remove the option for anonymous postings? Sorry people were being obnoxious- it's so not necessary.

You go girl! If these bitches don't want to sign their own names, you call them out! I agree with Ticey that you must be careful about these horrible "anons." I had a friend who was afraid she was being cyber-stalked by some weirdo who kept posting about John Edwards (Yuck! Creeep!) He eventually went away, but she was really shaken up.

Nice post Mrs. Preppy. I totally agree about anon comments. I have allowed then and then taken them away...anyway, I have done away with them totally.

I wish blogger allowed comment moderation for Anon comments only. I like comment moderation, but since I can't check my blog at work, it would be too many hours before I could approve comments.

I'm sorry to hear you got a nasty comment! Don't let it upset you at all! Your blog brightens my day, and those who don't appreciate it are missing out!

Have a great weekend!

I am one of those trusting people who doesn't bother with approval on comments~ the negative ones are always anonymous...I believe we all have the right to agree or disagree, but we need to be respectful of one another's opinions. I blog because it's fun for me and I have so many new friends because of it. It's really a let down when someone takes the time to comment and then gets ugly. It's a shame really. I love the blogosphere, and for the most part everyone has been super nice.

I love your blog, btw...and I need to quit stalking!

Hugs!
