Casserole time!

Are you beginning to get in the holiday spirit? I am going to be totally honest and say that I have not caught the festive, holiday spirit yet. But thinking about food always puts you in the holiday spirit – right? Our family Thanksgiving meals are quite the spread. Everyone has their favorite side dish, and these ‘favorites’ seem to multiply each year.

The casserole baking dish gets quite the workout on Thanksgiving. And I LOVE it. I would much rather have my green beans covered in cream of mushroom soup and topped with fried onions…and I want the sweet potatoes baked into a creamy casserole that is covered in a delicious topping of crushed cornflakes, brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans. I have experienced a boring food spread and I have experienced the casserole spread.... Give me the casseroles!

Here is our family thanksgiving menu:

Cranberry fluff
Sweet potato soufflé
Mashed potatoes
Broccoli and rice casserole
Company casserole
Onion pudding
Corn soufflé
Green bean casserole
Stuffing

Ham
Turkey & gravy

Cheese rolls
Pumpkin bread

Apple pie
Pumpkin pie
Chess pie
Tollhouse pie
Pecan pie
Pumpkn toffee roll
Assorted cookies

Hungry yet? I feel like I have left something off....
I mainly eat the sides – who needs protein when you have a casserole?!?!

What is your favorite Thanksgiving side?

My mouth is watering!

My favorite side dish is pretty boring but I love mashed potatoes. My sisters are the best and, unfortunately, I won't be with her on Thanksgiving. The good news is that I'll be with my mother-in-law and her sweet potato casserole is truly to.die.for!!

I am so hungry. Y'all make alot more sides than we do! I do love a casserole, there is no more perfect comfort food.

What is company casserole? And I want your broccoli/rice casserole recipe! I may be adding another side :)

I'm an all sides girl as well (desserts count as sides, right?) My fave is mac n cheese. I'm sure it's not a standard at everyones holidays... but it's a standard at ALL of ours :)

Can I come to your place for Thanksgiving? Ours is so plain and boring. Well, not last year because I cooked and it was super fun and fabulous, but, this year it will be bo-ring. :(

You took some of these words right out of my mouth! I haven't really caught the festive spirit yet either. It usually hits me all at once in a manic sort of way, haha! I agree with you, I usually eat all of the delicious sides. My favorite is my aunt's sweet potato souffle!

Yum, I want to come eat. Onion pudding? Cranberry fluff? Other than that it is very similar to our menu.

I'm all about green bean casserole and sweet potatoes, and OMG that sweet potato casserole you described sounds SO GOOD. Is there a recipe for that?
