Family Photos

The wonderfully talented Allie helped me come up with four great options for our upcoming family photos. I used to be an avid reader of her blog - Chic and I always loved the outfits that she created. And now, she has created some super cute outfits for me!

She created 2 looks for each outfit Miss A is wearing. Based on the clothes Allie picked, you would think that she and I are best girlfriends and we have been shopping together over and over..... you would never guess that she and I have never met in person.

Now comes the hard part..... deciding which looks to use!

Fried Fair Food

As we were walking into the fair today there were people handing out samples of shampoo and conditioner. Granted, I love me some hair products, but they should have been handing out samples of heart burn medication.

Especially when you eat an assortment of fried foods and Diet Coke for the entire afternoon.

Have not made it to the Texas State Fair this year? Or are you wondering what exactly you would eat at the fair?

Well......
Fried Frito Pie
Fried Texas Caviar
Funnel Cake
Fried Grilled Cheese

Fletcher's Corny Dog

Tornado Taters

Chicken Fried Bacon

Fried Chocolate

I think the Fried Frito Pie was my favorite. Followed closely by the Fletcher's Corny Dog. Can't go wrong with Fletcher's. The fried chocolate was basically a gooey brownie and the fried bacon did not live up to my expectations. I love bacon, but this had too much fried batter covering it.
And, let me just say.... I did not eat entire servings of all of this food. Most of these things I just had bites. Had I eaten all of this food, I would be one sick puppy.

28 is Too Young

If you live in Dallas, you have probably heard about the horrible accident that happened on the Katy Trail last week.

There have been numerous news stories and articles about this incident, but here are just a couple.
Jogger Critically Injured on Katy Trail
Dallas Jogger Hit by Bicycle on Katy Trail Dies

It was a freak thing that leaves you questioning almost everything and asking why. I wish I had more comforting thoughts during this period of loss. But mainly I just end up thinking about the times we had together and I just end up sad and crying.

Lauren Huddleston is my friend. She was a kind and compassionate soul that would do anything for anyone. She lived her life that way and she ended her life that way. Her organs, tissue and bones are going to be able to save the lives of almost 100 people. She was that type of person that never said negative things about people, but you could tell she never even thought those unkind things about people. 28 is too young to die.

Lauren, you are loved and you will be missed.

Hey Punkin'

Hello there... I am still here, just had zero desire to blog last week. I mean, how interesting are car wrecks, doctor appointments, trips to the ER and gall bladder sonograms? Yeah, sounds like a real snoozer of a week - don't you think?

Anyway, now that it is officially fall, this means it is time to start seasonal decorating! I love to decorate, but when you try to cram in Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decor all in 3 months, it is enough to make me insane. Seriously - I would just get the ghosts and goblins put away and it would be time to get out the tinsel. So, to make things easier, I stick to pumpkins for October and November. Nothing too specific for Halloween, just little things that are easy to fill with peanut butter M & M's or Reese's Pieces. And I don't think I have any Thanksgiving specific decor.

Last night I decorated some pumpkins for our dining room table.

I love how they turned out! Aside from the hot glue gun burns, these were fun to make. I just made up of the patterns as I went, but these would also be great with ric rac or pom pom trim.

Tagged!

My favorite new mom up in Michigan tagged me to answer some fun questions about myself... Most of the time I forget to complete these things, so here I go.

1. What is your ideal number of children?
2 - That means we are halfway there. :) Now, if we could just agree on when to start on #2.

2. What color flatters you the most?
Hum.... I am never good at this. You know how in magazines they always say what lip gloss or eye shadow colors are best, based on your skin tone? I can never tell. That inside of the wrist trick does not work on me. So, if I were to choose what colors I wear the most, it would be green, orange and white. And of course, black... that is a given.

3. What is your favorite household chore? And which do you wish the little fairies would do overnight?
I want the little fairies to come and take care of ALL the chores. If you count yard work as a chore, then that would be my favorite. I love working in the yard...

4. What is your favorite book of all time?
I used to be an avid reader, but ever since I had Miss A, I have been a total slacker. I get into bed at night and fall asleep to Bravo, where I used to fall asleep with a book on my face. I really loved My Sister's Keeper... the movie was not as good as the book, but are they ever?

5. What do you sleep in?
A tank top and gym shorts. Could it get any sexier?

6. Red or White?
White. Love white jeans and white t shirts. I always gravitate to white, so this was an easy one for me.

7. Friday, Saturday, or Sunday? Why?
I am going to take the easy way out and just say all three! Ever since I started staying home with Miss A, everyday kind of seems like the weekend. But, on the real weekend, the Mr. is home so enjoy spending time with him.

8. What is your ideal job (regardless of current schooling, training, etc)
I have always thought I would love to work in a medical setting... but currently my ideal job would involve cooking of some sort. I actually have a little something up my sleeve regarding this. :)

They are just things.

Jake had an extremely nutritious breakfast this morning.

Paper.

Rubber. *
Wood.

More rubber.

and apples.

They are just things.
They are just things.
They are just things.
They are just things.

How many times do you think I have to repeat this before I don't want to kill him?

* He must really like the taste of Havaianas - this is the 2nd pair he has destroyed. Not to mention to pairs of Reef sandals.

Day in the life

I think it is interesting to read how other people spend their day. Are they constantly working on a project? How many Diet Coke's are consumed? Do they stay home all day or are they out and about? Well, here is a little snapshot into my life.

Here is how I spent my day last Friday:

6 - I wake up to Jake's huge paws on my face.... take me out!

After I take him outside I fall asleep on the couch.

745 - Mr. brings Miss A down and we cuddle and play on the couch

8 - Breakfast time... Diet Coke and grapes for me and a waffle with peanut butter and banana slices and milk for Miss A

Almost step on glass. Jake broke a frame last night and glass shards are magically appearing. Crazy dog.

Miss A and I play, play, play

Assess the mud pit of the back yard. How many squares of sod do we need?

9 - Head out to Home Depot for sod.

910 - No sod at Home Depot. Looks like the mud pit will remain a mud pit for 1 more week.

915 - Head over to Target for new tweezers and some new nail polish

10 - Back home for Miss A's morning nap

1015 - I clean up from breakfast... start the dishwasher... restock the fridge with Diet Coke... mop the floors... start a load of laundry...

Find more glass in the study. How in the world did glass end up there when the frame broke in the kitchen? Damn dog.

Listen to the President while doing the above chores.

1105 am - Another Diet Coke and fix a play necklace for Miss A

1115 am - I am refinishing our dining room table.... sand the top and start painting the trim

12 - paint on my shorts. Crap.

1215 - Stop painting and watch the rest of Real Housewives DC from the night before

1230 - Miss A is still asleep! Start Watch What Happens Live and start another load of laundry

115 pm - Miss A is up!

130 - Lunch with my dad and Miss A at Chick Fil A

215 - Errands - Office Max, Michael's, Old Navy

4 - Miss A's 2nd nap

430 - I water my plants and try to figure out what is eating these leaves

5 - Miss A never fell asleep, but she sang to herself and played with her bunny for an hour

515 - The Mr. is home early and we discuss plans for dinner

So.... that was a typical day for me. What are your days like?

One for One

I need some fashion advice.
I used to think TOMS were ugly, ugly, ugly. (I also used to think I would never wear Uggs, leggings, skinny jeans, or maxi dresses..... but just take a look in my closet.)

I guess I have been worn down because I now want a pair.

But not just any pair.... this sparkly silver pair.
I just have no idea what I would wear with them.
Help me out. Do you have a pair? And how do you wear them?
The TOMS website has a How We Wear Them section, but the glitter section is empty. Zip, zero, zilch, nada. Give me outfit ideas! I need to be a cool mom when I am hanging out at Miss A's preschool.

Plus, how perfect would it be for Miss A to get a pair of Tiny TOMS?
