Famous! .... Well, Kinda...

I was browsing my wedding photographers website the other day only to find this....

(We are on the right)

We are made the website! Mr. Accountant and I took our engagement pictures downtown at Fountain Place back in May. We had a wonderful time and Julie did an excellent job. We even ended the photo shoot by running through the fountains. It was fun, carefree and wet!

I just did my bridal portrait this afternoon at the Dallas Arboretum, so maybe one of those will also make her site someday.

Success!

Last night was another hair trial and it was a smashing success! No more worries about having ‘Amish Medusa’ hair or fear of going bald from all of the teasing and pulling. My wedding hair is going to be elegant, sleek, and not teased at all.

Hair Trial #1:

Hair Trial #2:

Kelly from MakeUp Logic is wonderful! If you are in the Dallas area and ever need hair and/or make up, give her a call.

DIRTY SEXY MONEY

A senator with a tranny girlfriend.
A daughter that OD'd at her parents anniversary party.
A son that wins a yacht full of illegal aliens in a poker game.
Another son that is a man of the cloth AND has a bastard kid.
Throw in a mysterious plane crash death / murder.

Sounds scandalous and I want more!

Wedding Nightmares

Why is it that as the wedding gets closer (31 days) I have these crazy NIGHTMARES?!? In the first one, it is the day of the wedding and anything and everything that could go wrong, does.
  • The cake collapses.
  • My mani / pedi is chipped.
  • I forgot to do my hair and makeup.
  • We forgot to send out invitations.
  • The flowers were wilting.
  • Half of the bridesmaids were wearing navy tea length dresses, the other half were in long, brown dresses. (Long, brown dresses are the correct ones)
  • I forgot to wear my veil.
  • Late to the the church.
  • The list goes on and on......

Last night it was more of the same, except this time I ended up assaulting the minister. (Sorry Kathryn) I am waiting in the back of the church and for some reason the music is all wrong. No trumpet player. No flutist. No organ. The bridesmaids then walk/run down the aisle and are talking to people the entire way. By the time I get to the alter I end up throwing my bouquet at the minister in disgust and then........ I woke up! Good thing, I don't think this bride would want to know what happened next.

As crazy as our wedding would be if all of those things actually happened, I can rest assure that NOTHING will come close to what happened at this wedding.

From Russia with Love

When I think of Russia the first thing that comes to mind is vodka and caviar. James Bond and furs. Even this comes to mind.

But, due to the creative genius over at OPI, they want us to think nail polish and all rush out to buy the new 'it' color for fall. Here we have Russian Navy.

I tried this inky blue last night and the jury is still out. Up until now, the only reason I ever had for my toes to be blue resulted from extremely cold temperatures. Let me tell you - in Dallas that does not happen often. This might never again make it out from under the sink OR it might become the Cajun Shrimp of fall. (Nothing can take the place of Cajun Shrimp -- oh how I love you.)

Also, if you are ever looking for a not too white, not too pink, not too sheer, not too streaky nude color for your fingers, try OPI Bubble Bath. Some of you may know this as the color Giada De Laurentiis wears on her shows as well as on the covers of her cookbooks. This is my favorite nude color that I have tried, thus far.

As far as wedding mani/pedi polish is concerned, I will be sporting Bubble Bath on my fingers, but should I do Cajun Shrimp on the toes? The wedding is at the end of October and there are going to be lots of coral and orange flowers. Suggestions?

The Preppy Cat

Growing up with younger brothers, I witnessed all sorts of crazy things that you can do to cats... All humane, of course. For example, if you place little pieces of tape on their paws, they do not put their paws on the ground. So, if you do that to all 4 paws, it is pretty amusing. Animal lovers, don't worry -- the tape was never sticky enough to cause pain when it comes off. Or if you loosely tie something around their waist, they immediately fall to the ground. Maybe it messes with their equilibrium -- who knows.

Mean? No.
Funny? Yes.

I think the same theory applies to clothing and cats. When you dress your cat in a cute, preppy dog shirt they immediately fall to the ground. I had never tried to dress Steve the cat before, and now I know why. Getting the shirt on him was no big deal. Trying to get the shirt off of him without him biting you -- a different story.

You would think I would learn with the first shirt. But, no. Here he is another preppy polo.

(Excuse the quality of the pictures. I can't find my charger for my camera, so the camera phone will have to do.)

Here is his new collar that matches the green shirt. Cute in theory, but doubt the matching outfit will ever be worn again.

Hair-Arexic

My name is Mrs. Preppy and I am a hair-arexic. Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery – right?

Let me explain…. Years ago when Sweet Home Alabama came out I did a copy cat move and got the Reese Witherspoon haircut. I looked exactly like her – except for the fact I have dark brown hair, I am 5’7”, and I have brown eyes. Plus, I think my hair was about 2 inches shorter than hers was. That is what happens when you start talking with the lady cutting your hair and you have to tell her to stop because the ground is covered in a sea of brown hair. I had that hairdo for my college years and started to grow it back out a couple years ago.

The growing out process started mainly because I was the maid of honor in my best friend’s wedding -- 4 years ago. I can now safely say that I have long hair, but for the longest time I continued to think I had short hair. Jaw length hair – still short. Shoulder length hair – still short. Pony tail length hair – still short. That is when I jokingly referred to myself as a ‘hair-arexic.’ For the longest time I always thought that my hair was shorter than it was, but now I can safely say that I have long hair. (See post below)

Well, this long hair has caused quite a problem in the past couple weeks. You would think that long hair would be easier to do far a wedding – right? Not the case. I guess it is too heavy, because every time I have a trial run on my hair it ends up disastrous. I wanted a simple, low bun.

What I got was this.

What part of that looks like a simple, low bun? I think it looked more like an Amish Medusa. My normally stick straight (and smooth) hair looks more like a rat’s nest that has been teased and sprayed and filled with bobby pins.

Hopefully when I have my hair trial this week, she will be able to perfect the classy, low bun. Wish me luck. Heck, say a prayer and light a candle.

Shine, Shine, Shine

I am an admitted product junkie. I am an admitted HAIR product junkie. I am willing to try almost anything to give me shinier, bouncier, longer hair. (See Apple Cider Vinegar post) Therefore, when I heard that you could purchase the shine conditioner that is normally sold in Clairol hair dye, I had to try it. Keep in mind, I am also extremely paranoid about coloring my hair.... I have virgin long, dark brown hair. I think the main reason I have never even highlighted this mane is because I would rather spend money at J Crew, versus the salon.

(Mr. Accountant and future Mrs. Preppy engagement pic)

Clairol Nice'N Easy ColorSeal is one of the best shine products that I have ever used! I highly recommend it, plus at less than $5 a pop, it is steal. I use it after my normal conditioner, mainly because I would have to use the entire tube, but the directions say to use it instead of conditioner. Either way, it smells great and makes you have soft and shiny hair!
