Food Revolution

My latest celebrity chef crush - Jamie Oliver.

I have become addicted to his Food Revolution show and I LOVE what he is doing with the school lunch system - our kids are eating some serious crap. He has a great message and a great accent. I want to read his Food Revolution book.... Did you see when he did the chicken nugget demo? AWFUL.
I cook all the time for us and lately I have been even more concerned with additives and preservatives in our food.... You always hear to shop the perimeter of the grocery store - I am really trying to stick to it. Our grocery bills are a little higher, I have to grocery shop a little more frequently, but I know that we are eating healthy stuff.

This afternoon I even downloaded Jamie Oliver's iPhone app - 20 Minute Meals with Jamie Oliver. Looks like there are some pretty tasty recipes and he has beat Rachel Ray by 20 min. Take that RR!

My favorite recipe is one that I can make for dinner, and then eat cold for lunch the next day. This generally involves a whole wheat pasta with some veggies and feta. What is your favorite fast and healthy recipe?

I love the Food Revolution show too and have my kids watch it w/me! Our school lunches are really delicious, but pretty crappy healthwise. I showed my 11 year old the demo on how Chicken Nuggets are made, and he won't eat them any more. Shopping the perimeter of the grocery store is a great idea...maybe I'll make it a challenge of mine for the next few weeks!!

I love this show too!! I actually got this cookbook for my husband for Easter and it's wonderful!! I made a recipe from it for dinner last night and it was delicious - Chili Con Carne!

Chicken Jambalya from the GI Diet Cookbook. You wouldn't think jambalya is healthy, but this recipe uses only fresh ingredients, whole wheat brown rice and savory spices. So good!

do you have the food revolution cookbook? if so, how useful is it? I love watching food revolution, hate seeing the contention he has to deal with, but so proud of the progress he is making!

stir fry with brown rice is a staple at our house as well as glazed salmon (soy, ginger, OJ, garlic) on the grill...the leftovers the next day are great in a spinach salad.

I love Jamie Oliver. Major Crush.

The new book is amazing! I went through it during nap time the other day. I think I would try almost every recipe in there. I even want to try some curry recipes!

Love this show. Makes you really think. I find myself looking at the food I eat and wondering if it is really health.
