Nursery Updates

We had a very eventful weekend, shopping for the nursery. Here are the purchases:

Rug from Pottery Barn Baby (The walls will probably be this same color yellow)

Black Dresser from Weir's (I am going to use this as a changing table also, just add a topper at one end. We did not want a changing table that was only going to be used for a little while, plus this dresser will be good for years to come.)

Black Crib from Babies r Us (The crib can be converted into a twin daybed, then a full size bed)

Diaper Bag from Pottery Barn Baby

Everything should arrive in the next couple of weeks. Now all we need is a glider... Question for all the moms out there -- did you go with the traditional glider style (the kind with wood) or the style that looks more like a comfy chair? We are leaning toward the comfy chair style. (see below)

I love the rug. What a fun time. Thank you for your nice words about my holiday and my husband's crazy family. So at least I'm not the only one!!

I definitely recommend the comfy chair. More than one night I ended up sleeping in the chair for longer than I slept in my own bed!

All your choices are darling--your baby will have an amazing nursery!

I LOVE the dresser - good thinking I am going to sell my changing table & get a dresser one of these days!

As for the rocker. I have a sweet rocking chair that is antique that I only used the 1st few months. I wanted the Pb one but in the end I know I can live without it. It is big & wouldn't be much use for me. They sell them at DownEast Home for 1/2 off!

The furniture is beautiful! Our changing table and crib are now our guestroom dresser and headboard...it's great when you can continue to use them!

so cute and so jealous you have black furniture!!! I'm sure either chair will work great. We went with the glider because it's already going to be a lot of furniture in one room for us.

And they have different woods and colors u can choose. I wanted the other your looking at, but never found one high enough to support my shoulders and head, and I am really happy with the one we got, it Is a dutalier grand.

You have chosen lovely things for your nursery! Go comfy chair...you'll be spending quite a bit of time in it...and also get a foot rest (nursing stool) makes all the difference!

I love the color combination! The yellow and the black furniture is going to be great! I had an antique wooden rocker - NOT comfortable at all. You need something to support your head when you are so tired you can barely keep your head up! - keep that in mind!

All great buys! I'm not a mom either but I'd go for the comfy chair glider.

Hi there! Love your blog to bits. My first time commenting...I believe. Please go with the comfy chair. I beg of you. We went with the wooden rocker and man, after a couple of nights sleeping in it when baby had his first cold (he's 6 months old now), I rued that decision big-time.
On a different note, everything you picked looks lovely. Blessings and best of luck with everything!

I really like the comfy chairs. I'm not a mom but I spend plenty of time rocking when I babysit. The good thing about those chairs-you can use them later! I sit in one when I read to the boys I sit for.

You got some great stuff! Love the chest and the crib. Have to go crib shopping early next year! As for the glider do the chair style vs wood thing. I loooove the chair I got and I got a gliding ottoman with it! heaven!

If it's in your budget, comfy chair!Good idea on the dresser. I had the pottery barn changing table. I thought I could use it as a dresser later, but the part that holds the pad does not come off!

I'm 22 weeks and we're having the same sort of conversations around our house. We've also picked out a dresser, not a changing table, for the same reason...why spend the extra money on a piece of furniture that will be used for a relatively short amount of time? Also, I'm definitely going with the comfy chair. I figure that I'll be spending the most time in it, and I want it to be one I can really get comfortable in. I can't seem to find a rocker that does that for me.

Great dresser! Don't you just love Weir's?

I hope to have a comfy chair like that some day!

Comfy chair all the way -- but do test it out carefully, both for head/back/neck support and also (if you're going to be nursing) that you can fit a baby and a boppy in there. We tried a few comfy chairs that were waaay to narrow.
