Boot Camp - Day 1

So, last night was the the first boot camp session. I pick up Allison, leaving plenty of time to make the 5 minute drive to where the camp was taking place. Well.... as soon as I pick her up, I realize that I forgot my yoga mat. We had to have the mats because the session takes place in a huge church parking lot, and if I was going to be doing push-ups and such on concrete, I needed to mat. I DASH back to my place and we make it to the church with minutes to spare....until we get lost in the parking lot. Don't laugh. This place is huge..... one of the largest church's I have even seen. So, we begin to panic because in the class instructions it clearly stated that YOU WERE NOT TO BE LATE. And here we are.... Day 1... late.

Luckily, we were able to slip in just in time to hear, "time to run your mile!" And we were off..... (To give you an idea about how large the church it, one lap around the parking lot was the mile) We finish the mile, and the order that you finish dictates your fitness groups for the rest of the class. The first 10 that finish are in group 1, second 10 are in group 2 and so on. We were in group 4 of 9... not too shabby.

We immediately begin with reps of cherry pickers and some other jumping move.... 10 cherry pickers and 10 of the other thing.... 9 cherry pickers and 9 of the other thing.... etc... after that out group does some sort of shuffle exercise, 2 different exercises of 20 reps and you do both sets 3 times.

The entire class consisted of fast paced exercises of that nature. At one point, we were doing some sort of arm exercise while lying on your stomach and the drill sargent threatened to step on your fingers if your hands touched the ground. Hard core.

There were a couple of times where we thought we were going to throw up and / or pass out. BUT, other than that... it was great! Seriously, I was not as sore today as I thought I was going to be. I really liked the class and I am looking forward to tomorrow night. Tomorrow we have to bring weights, so I am guessing that we will focus on arms. 1 day down, but I think this is going to be a great experience.

Oh god--if someone threatened to step on my fingers I think I would run away and hide! I like be motivated but just freak when people start yelling at me.

Sounds like you're off to a good start!

Glad the class is going well! I could stand to take a class like that. I need to whip myself into shape.

Wow, I am really hoping that my experiences go a little better than yours! For now, I'm not reaching out to anyone because the idea seems ridiculous to me, but we'll see how it all turns out. Anyway, boot camp sounds like a ball - good luck with it! I've spent time in Dallas so I can picture the size of the church that you ran at - there's no way I could have done a mile with my bad foot.
