Registering for wedding gifts...One of the true tests of a couple's relationship. If you can make it through an afternoon or two of Lenox vs. Kate Spade, Waterford vs. Kate Spade, and Mikasa vs. Kate Spade, then you will be in wedded bliss. Right? Not so fast. All is good until you receive a call at work that goes something like this:
Mr. Accountant - "Have you looked at the registry today?"
Me - "No, not in the last 30 seconds. Why?"
Mr. Accountant - "Why do you think someone would buy us something that is not on the registry? I mean, do you think we are going to really need a 1 cup glass measuring cup**?"
Me - "I guess they felt the need for us to have the 1 cup glass measuring cup**."
Replay this exact conversation, except for every ** substitute red, black and yellow spice tins, dish towels, and random stemware. I think it is great people are buying gifts for US. I LOVE it. Mr. Accountant does not love it. He does not understand why someone would buy something we did not pick out. That being said, this week we received a gift in an unmarked box. No Macy's box. No Crate & Barrel box. Not even a Bed, Bath & Beyond box. This box is completely plain with not even the slightest clue as to where this gift is from. You can imagine my surprise when Mr. Accountant rips open the box only to say "we didn't register at Tiffany & Co."
Mr. Accountant got to open this box because his name the only name on the outside of the box, therefore the next 5 minutes consisted of me chasing Mr. Accountant around the living room until I cornered him on the couch and I could maturely get him in a headlock and pry the glorious little blue box out of his hands. Who cares if the box only had his name on it. This is a Tiffany & Co. box and I was going to be the one opening it. Mature... yes, I know.
You can imagine my surprise when I open the box to find this:
The moral of this story is simple. Registry gifts are good, but Tiffany & Co. gifts are even better.

6 Additional Thoughts:
Ahhhh little (and big) blue boxes are my favorite!
I still want to tweak the edges of your blog boxes (title bar etc) - I just need to figure out how!
Oh, to add a link list, go to 'Customize' and then click on 'Add a Page Element'. Should tell you everything from there.
hope that helps!
Hehe! Yeah, I wouldn't hate it if someone went off my list and i got a little (or big) blue box!
Lucky you! I registered at Tiffany for my Christmas china and a few other little things and am anxiously awaiting a blue box.
Little blue boxes are amazing (Hello! came to your blog via various channels)...I am engaged myself and can't wait till I return from my current stint in Japan to do my own wedding registry (Macy's and possibly Tiffany) - the moral of the story is very right!
In terms of Kate Spade vs. all those other companies, I already won that battle of the china labels - Kate Spade all the way (it's actually made by Lenox and that was the rationale to get my mom to be quiet about me choosing Kate Spade, lol because she thought that Kate Spade wasn't that great).
Who doesn't love that blue box? Just the color makes me smile!
