I've had it.

At almost 35 weeks pregnant, I've heard all of the comments out there.

"You are HOW far along?"
"Oh wow...."
"Any day now - right?"
"You are only having 1? Are you sure?"
"How many are you having?"
"Maybe the second one is hiding."
"My boss is having twins and you are way bigger than she is"
... and many, many more....

And then this morning we were at story time and another pregnant mom and I were talking....
her - "You are due when?"
me - "October 30. About 5 more weeks"
her - "Oh, I am due November 30. But I am the opposite than you. I'm so small that most people still look at me and wonder is she or isn't she?"
(Not the case. She was obviously pregnant)

Here is the deal. Yes, I am fully aware of the fact that I am large. I am not blind and I do own a mirror. And I am a-ok with this. I was equally as large with my first pregnancy and I had a big, healthy baby - 9.3 lb / 21.5" long. Chances are, this baby is going to also be quite large. But, I don't understand why people feel the need to make awkward jokes at my expense. Most of the time I end up laughing it off, but when these comments are happening every single day, I get annoyed.

You are NOT the first person to laugh and say "maybe the second baby is just hiding!" That comment was not too funny the first time and it is definitely not funny the 100th time.

If you want to know how to talk to a pregnant lady, go read what Anne has to say about this subject. She was much more eloquent that I was.

Amen, sister! From one Mama who grows 'em big to another, you look GREAT, and those people can suck it. I was SO happy that I had big babies... They slept better for one, and hello, who doesn't love a big squishy baby!? Hang in there.

Aren't strangers just delightful?! I love hearing "you're SO much bigger than the last time I saw you!" I always want to respond by telling people that a) that is how pregnancy works and b) they are too :)

You look great! I cannot wait to see that precious baby!

Thanks for this. Being pregnant, I am glad that people want to know and do not just think that you are fat but sometimes it gets annoying.

I know how you feel...kind of haha. I have never been pregnant, but my cousin who I spend alot of time with, was in the same situation and I saw how irritated she got when people made those kinds of comments ( I did too and I wasn't the pregnant one!) I personally steer clear of making any kind of comments along those lines. Congrats by the way! And I love reading your blog!

Bless your heart. I know exactly how you feel. I am small in stature but was really big with my first. I lived in my very small hometown at the time and got every single one of those comments. I even went as far as to use one of my husband's old T-shirts and write a sarcastic answer to every question on it with a Sharpie. I went into labor before I got the chance to wear it :) I hope people leave you alone soon. If not, just try being a little smart-alec. Not fun, but it nips it in the bud!

You are seriously all baby, you don't even look like you've gained any other weight. Also, I am still jealous of your hair, it looks so fabulous!

Oh dear-I understand! I heard it all with my second. I gained sixty pounds and my stomach was enormous! I finally cussed someone out when they asked if I was sure there was only one! What nerve!!

You are huge but I totally know the feeling! With both of my pregnancies I was a freaking whale.

Even my thighs were too big for pants.

Pretty soon you will have a beautiful baby though so in the meantime tell all those people to shove it!

I can't believe another pregnant mom said that to you! I hope you told her that she looks huge and people must be lying to her!

Oh. My. Goodness.

What is wrong with people? There's a gal that works at Pier One near my office who is due right before me and I avoid her like the plague now (I go there quite often on my lunch) as she once told me after asking when I was due, "WOW. I am so small and you're..."
